“Batteries from green cars could swamp China’s recycling industry”

Discarded electric vehicle batteries could soon become a major environmental problem in China, Shenzhen-based Gaogong Industry Research has warned. According to the think tank, 248,000 metric tons of batteries will be discarded in 2020 whose heavy metals and chemicals pose a risk to the environment if the batteries are not recycled properly.
